Crack Analysis Due to Fatigue Load During Subsea Pipeline Installation

چکیده

Most of the subsea pipelines in Indonesia are installed using S-Lay method with pipelay barges equipped mooring spreads, tensioners, and stinger. During pipeline installation, static loads occur due to configuration from firing line barge up seabed. The pipe will experience axial tension bending moment two critical areas: overbend sagbend. In addition, fatigue during installation environmental (i.e., currents waves). Defects that found after welding grow these loads. Crack analysis a fracture mechanic approach known as Engineering Critical Assessment (ECA) is carried out by considering load significant wave height variations for 0.5m, 1.0m, 1.8m. Subsea Free Span Pipeline Damage Detection Based on Wavelet Transform under Environmental Load

During their service life, marine pipelines continually accumulate damage as a result of the action of various environmental forces. Clearly, the development of robust techniques for early damage detection is very important to avoid the possible occurrence of a disastrous structural failure. Most of vibration-based damage detection methods require the modal properties that are obtained from mea...

Fatigue Crack Monitoring via Load-differential Guided Wave Methods

Detection and localization of fatigue cracks is an important application for inspection and monitoring of civil, mechanical and aerospace structures, but assessment of such damage via ultrasonic guided waves can be problematic when cracks are tightly closed in the absence of applied tensile loads. Proposed here are load-differential methods, which compare signals at one load to those at another...

Fatigue Crack Detection via Load- Differential Guided Wave Methods (preprint)

Detection of fatigue cracks originating from fastener holes is an important application for structural health monitoring (SHM) of civil, mechanical and aerospace structures, but their detection via ultrasonic guided waves can be problematic when cracks are tightly closed in the absence of applied tensile loads. Proposed here are load-differential guided wave methods, which compare signals at on...

Improved FTA Methodology and Application to Subsea Pipeline Reliability Design

An innovative logic tree, Failure Expansion Tree (FET), is proposed in this paper, which improves on traditional Fault Tree Analysis (FTA). It describes a different thinking approach for risk factor identification and reliability risk assessment. By providing a more comprehensive and objective methodology, the rather subjective nature of FTA node discovery is significantly reduced and the resul...

A Review of Fatigue Crack Growth for Pipeline Steels Exposed to Hydrogen

Hydrogen pipeline systems offer an economical means of storing and transporting energy in the form of hydrogen gas. Pipelines can be used to transport hydrogen that has been generated at solar and wind farms to and from salt cavern storage locations. In addition, pipeline transportation systems will be essential before widespread hydrogen fuel cell vehicle technology becomes a reality. Since hy...
